J&J's chic manor house wedding albums

Not one but two wedding albums for Joelle & James. Why two? Well, they didn’t settle for one wedding; they had two celebrations exactly a year apart and at the same venue – the stunning exclusive use manor house, Rockbeare Manor in Devon. Their first wedding event was severely restricted by Covid rules so it was a small intimate gathering. The second, however was a larger celebration with the family and friends who couldn’t be there for the initial ceremony.

For multi-event weddings, there’s always the temptation to opt for two different wedding album sizes or cover materials and it can work really well. But with both ceremonies held at the same venue, J&J wanted to keep some consistency across both albums choosing the same size and cover. The stunning Dreambooks wedding album featuring a classic white micro leather was the perfect match for their overall wedding style and summer dates – where they had a stunning blue sky for both days! Their albums were finished off with the beautiful clamshell presentation box in matching micro leather and white wood rim for a crisp, clean finish.

WEDDING ALBUM 1

J&J’s first ceremony, in 2020 was a small and intimate celebration with just their parents attending so the wedding album featured a smaller amount of wedding photos. Without a large reception or evening celebration, I could dedicate album spreads to those special moments. Here are a few of my favourites…

WEDDING ALBUM 1 - THE BRIDE

Beautiful, calm and serene. I kept this spread fairly simple with just four images of the bride in different poses and a mix of close-up and full-body shots. The stunning blue walls in the photos stood out beautifully against a white space background.

WEDDING ALBUM 1 - BRIDE AND DAD

There were several photos of Joelle and her dad taken just before the ceremony started so I dedicated the spread to these images to tell the story of Dad spotting his daughter all ready to go and their walk arm in arm to give her away. The beautiful image of the bride walking down the stairs was the perfect feature image to start the spread.

WEDDING ALBUM 1 - NEWLYWED CELEBRATIONS

The ceremony is over and it’s time to celebrate the newlyweds. The image featuring the happy couple clinking glasses was the perfect backdrop to set the scene supported by four smaller images.

WEDDING ALBUM 1 - FAMILY PHOTOS

What a backdrop the manor house makes! I love the contrast of the crisp white walls against that stunning blue sky. What a perfect summer wedding! J&J were so lucky to have such a beautiful day and the image of the couple with both sets of parents (the full wedding party!) was the ideal showcase photo to place on it’s own full page.

WEDDING ALBUM 1 - HAVING A BREAK

These candid shots of the newlyweds are so simple but effective when placed together. There’s plenty of texture, detail and colour in the background which could end up looking cluttered if placed alongside images taken in a different location. So I chose four photos taken in the same place but with four different poses and expressions to evoke the relaxed and happy vibe of J&J enjoying a few moments of each other’s company.

WEDDING ALBUM 2

James planned and worked with me to produce the albums as a surprise present for his wife, Joelle! He was very keen to include as many of their beautiful photos as possible so their second album ended up featuring a whopping 40 double page spreads. Here’s my favourites from this album…

WEDDING ALBUM 2 - SETTING THE SCENE

With the two wedding events set in the same venue, I wanted them to have a similar feel and flow. So both wedding albums began with an almost identical photo of J&J in front of Rockbeare Manor. They were so blessed to have stunning sunny weather on both days, it almost feels like it was the same day!

WEDDING ALBUM 2 - THE BRIDE

The beauty of the landscape wedding album format is that there’s much scope for a strip-style layout and these three portrait images of the bride work perfectly alongside each other with the backdrop of the wedding flowers and images of the the bride and mum to the left.

WEDDING ALBUM 2 - THE BRIDE'S ENTRANCE

The fundamental difference between this and the first wedding is that this featured an outdoor garden ceremony in the venue’s grounds. She and her dad made a stunning entrance walking through the landscaped gardens while the groom looked on.

WEDDING ALBUM 2 - KISS THE BRIDE

As there were so many album spreads to play with, this one I dedicated to the exchanging of the rings and the first kiss. The first kiss photo is the main feature filling the right-hand page with several supporting images on the left. Different-sized images create more of an interesting visual feature to a fairly simple yet beautiful layout.

WEDDING ALBUM 2 - KISS THE BRIDE

I always love the confetti photos…they always capture that sheer joy, happiness and fun! Just four images on this wedding album spread. The newlyweds heading down the steps to be greeted by their guests culminating with the best confetti shot in full page glory.

WEDDING ALBUM 2 - BRIDE AND GROOM PORTRAITS

The vibrant colours and textures of the plants and flowers contrasted with the crisp white and blue of the bride and groom’s outfits. I just wanted to keep this spread simple and let the two photos shine alongside each other without over complicating anything. The white border framed each image and ensured they didn’t blend into each other.

WEDDING ALBUM 2 - THE SPEECHES

I like to include more photos on these spreads so you can really get a feel for the atmosphere in the room and capture the expressions on the wedding party and guests faces. The Stylish design style tends to feature a focus image on most spreads – in this one I chose a particularly stunning shot of the bride but also featured the best man’s photo fairly prominently as he was the one delivering the speech!

WEDDING ALBUM 2 - FIRST DANCE

I love how these images work together so well. The focus photo fills the page and blends perfectly into the background with the smoke billowing out around the couple. Whilst the smaller images feature the light up letters as a backdrop and the father/daughter dance alongside.

WEDDING ALBUM 2 - FIREWORK FINALE

Just two simple photos of the bride and groom watching the wedding fireworks were a perfect finale to the album.
