The post What to do with all your family photos first appeared on White Peacock Album Design.]]>

So, it’s the end of another year! It always seems to flash by in the blink of an eye, doesn’t it? But then you look back at all the family photos you’ve taken over the year and realise that you and your family actually did quite a lot! Do you ever find, though, that while you’ve made sure to capture all those moments and memories, the frustrating part is going back through the endless scroll on your phone to view them properly? It can feel like such a pain, can’t it?

Of course, it’s easy to have good intentions…you’ll organise your photos better, print some off. But between work, juggling the kids school life, and not to mention keeping on top of things at home, it’s no wonder that finding the time to organise your family photos often falls to the bottom of the list. Well, in the rest of this post, I’ll share a perfect solution for turning those photos into something special – without adding more to your to do list!

But why does it feel so overwhelming just thinking about organising your photos?

VOLUME OVERLOAD

We can literally whip our phone out of our pocket or bag at every opportunity so most of us will take hundreds and even possibly thousands of photos every year. Once they start to build up, it becomes an insurmountable task to work through and organise them.

LACK OF A SYSTEM

Back in the days where taking photos required a camera and a film, there was a clear process. You took the camera out with you, took several photos and then, once the film was full, you took it get developed and ended up with a set of lovely prints. But there’s no natural process for turning those digital snapshots into something physical or even feeling the need to organise them, especially as phones and their contents are at our fingertips 24-7. It’s easy to think, “well all my photos are in there somewhere”

TIME CONSTRAINTS

Life for parents nowadays is just generally full on! Let’s face it, we all have precious little spare time and sitting down to attempt to organise your huge bank of photos and turn them into something tangible is WAY down on the list.

The importance of these photos is often undervalued. They tell the story of your family’s year, capturing not just the big milestones—like first days of school or family holidays—but also the smaller, quieter moments: baking cookies on a rainy afternoon, a spring walk in the woods, or simply chilling out at home. These are the moments that define your family’s unique story, and they deserve to be preserved in a way that makes it easy to look back and reminisce..

So, what's the solution?

eLet’s be honest…the thought of those old-fashioned bulky, stick-in photo albums; you know the ones where you’d spend ages peeling back the plastic cover and trying to place each photo as straight as possible on the page, aren’t exactly appealing. In fact even thinking about it makes me lose the will to live!

Modern photo books aren’t like that at all. They are sleek, stylish, and can hold hundreds of photos without all those extra steps—no printing, no buying albums, and no fiddly sticking. They come in a variety of sizes and layouts to suit any project or occasion, making it easy to create a single “Family Yearbook” that showcases all the moments you’ve captured over the past 12 months. With everything beautifully organized, you can sit back, flip through, and relive how your year unfolded all in one elegant book.

But, despite the process of creating a Family photobook being so much more streamlined than the old fashioned version, there’s still the issue of finding the time to sit down, organise your photos and create the layouts – which can be hard work if you’re rushing or just don’t have the creativity! So, what’s the solution?

The Solution: A professionally designed Photo Yearbook made just for you.

When time is precious, it’s absolutely worth every penny to have someone else do all the hard work for you!

I created my “Year of Moments” photo book packages with busy parents like yourself in mind. It’s a simple and stress free way to transform that huge pile of digital photos into a beautiful tangible keepsake that you can pick up and look through without any effort.

So what does the “Year of Moments” photobook package entail?

GATHERING AND ORGANISING YOUR PHOTOS

It’s up to you whether you want to pick out all the best photos or send them all to me and I’ll do it for you. If it’s easier, we can create a shared folder via Dropbox where you can upload your photos at regular intervals. A great way to avoid overwhelm at the end of the year!

DESIGNING YOUR STORY
This is the labour intensive part. I’ll take your photos and create a beautiful layout that not only looks amazing but flows to tell the story of your family’s year as it happened.

THE PRINTED PHOTO BOOK
By using professional quality suppliers, your photo layouts are printed into a high-quality, photographically printed hardback book. It’s heavyweight enough to feel robust but sleek enough to be able to flick through easily and it’s something you’ll 100% want to proudly display on your bookshelf or coffee table.

If the thought of tackling your photo collection feels overwhelming, you’re not alone. But with my help, you can finally bring those cherished moments to life in a way that’s simple, stress-free, and deeply meaningful.

Find out more details of the packages and process or feel free to get in touch if you’d like to chat about your family’s “Year of Moments” photo book project or if you have any questions at all, I’d be happy to help!

Photos—whether they are random selfies, a fancy brunch with friends, or hundreds of snapshots of the kids—have become a staple in our lives thanks to our smartphones. It’s fantastic to capture every precious moment, but let’s be honest, how many times have you frustratedly scrolled through an endless gallery trying to find that one photo? . Fortunately, sorting out your photos doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Here are some straightforward tips to help you organise your photos so you can enjoy them more:

Create Folders

One of the simplest ways to organise your photos is by creating folders. Start with folders for each month of the year, such as “January 2024,” and add extra ones for special occasions like “Spain Aug 2023” or “Ella’s 8th Birthday.” This way, you can quickly locate a specific photo with a lot less to scroll through.

Have a Monthly “Clean Up”

Set a monthly reminder to spend about half an hour sorting through the photos you’ve taken. Delete any blurry, duplicate, or unnecessary ones. Sometimes, you need to be a bit ruthless—five photos of the same group pose just aren’t necessary. Pick the best one and delete the rest.

Use Photo Management Apps

There’s an app for everything, including managing and organising your photos. Applications like Google Photos, Apple Photos, Slidebox, and Memoria Photo Gallery allow you to tag, sort, and organise your images quickly and easily. They have both free and paid versions. The Free ones are pretty good but offer low storage so it might be worth upgrading so you can keep all your photos in one place.

Back Up Your Photos

After organising and tagging your photos, don’t forget to back them up. We all know that feeling when we think (or have) lost our phones which can mean the loss of irreplaceable memories. Cloud storage options like Google Cloud or iCloud are excellent for this purpose. I personally use Dropbox, which, although not photo-specific, allows for automatic photo uploads and easy sharing with my desktop. The free version offers 2GB of storage, but the paid version can store up to 1TB which I also use in my business so clients can easily share their photos with me.

Create a “Favourites” Folder

While organising your photos, set aside your absolute favourite images in a separate folder so you can go back to them more easily. Again, be quite selective here; you don’t want this to become almost as congested as the main gallery just because you’re not decisive enough.

What to do with your organised photos

After all that effort, don’t just leave your photos sitting hidden on your phone or computer. Leaving them festering away on your phone on in the cloud is not the best way to nurture all those captured moments. The reason you took the photos in the first place is to remember! Print media is timeless compared to its digital counterpart; a framed photo on the wall is always there to remind you and make you smile when you walk past! But you can only frame and display a limited amount of images so in addition, creating a photo book is a wonderful way to showcase all your visual memories.

Why make a photo book?

Tangible Memories: There’s something undoubtedly special about holding and feeling a beautifully crafted photo book. Not to mention that inside, a well designed layout creates a visual story of all those individual moments bringing your precious moments to life in a way that viewing them on a screen just can’t.

Great for Sharing: Photo books make perfect gifts for grandparents, friends, or as a treat for yourself.

Accessibility: I literally walked in on my youngest son the other day and he was sat looking through a photo book from a few years ago. It was fantastic that he could just pick up the book and look through all those moments. So whether you display it on a coffee table or store it on a bookshelf, a photo book is always at hand for a dose of nostalgia or feel-good memories.

How to make a photo book?

Many companies offer services where you can upload photos and create a photo book. BUT, it can be quite a daunting , not to mention, time-consuming task, especially if you lack creative flair. Which is why I can do all the hard work for you. My Moments in Time collection features bespoke, high-quality photo books perfect for any occasion and I handle all the layout design. Simply send me your (newly organised!) photos, and I’ll craft them into a beautiful visual story. I offer different ranges for different subjects…

The Special Moments range is ideal for all occasions or celebration. Whether that’s an anniversary, special birthday, baby’s first year or a holiday, there’s a photo book to suit.

The Year of Moments range is where you can combine all your favourite photos and memories across a whole year so you can build up a photo annual every 12 months.

The Lifetime of Moments range is a celebration of a whole lifetime from birth to present day and it’s the perfect gift for a special birthday or anniversary.

In today’s era, where smartphones effortlessly double up as cameras, everyone seems to be capturing as many moments as possible (when they’re not busy taking selfies, that is!) Weddings, in particular, tend to be occasions where guests unleash their inner amateur photographers. Couples now often communicate to everyone before their big day, to make sure they limit the use of phone cameras at certain points to ensure that those enthusiastic shutterbugs among their friends and family don’t inadvertently get in the way of the ACTUAL wedding photographer!

It’s fantastic that we can end up with a multitude of captured memories from our wedding day, each offering a different angle and perspective. However, when it comes to curating the wedding album, it does present a dilemma: should these guest photos be included in the album?

As a professional wedding album designer, I’ve been asked this question numerous times by clients. So, I thought it would be useful to discuss the reasons why you should, or shouldn’t include these photos in your wedding album…

What wedding guest photos can offer.

Photos taken by your wedding guests do offer a certain charm; a unique glimpse of your wedding day through their eyes. They capture lighthearted and (sometimes drunken) moments and emotions that a professional photographer might have missed, or just simply didn’t have the opportunity to capture – after all they can’t be everywhere at the same time! They provide a somewhat “behind the scenes’ style that just feels a little bit more candid than the official photos.

What are the downsides of wedding guest photos?

However, despite their charm, guest photos can vary vastly in terms of quality. While they may look good on a phone screen, printing them out can highlight any flaws, such as lack of detail, poor colour and lighting or blurred areas. Additionally, resolution becomes a concern when printing these images and considering how large they can be blown up without sacrificing quality – sometimes they are just too small to be usable.

Comparing Wedding Guest Photos to Professional Photos

It’s essential to remember why you hired a professional wedding photographer—they possess the technical skills and equipment to capture photos with perfect lighting and resolution. They also have the expertise to compose the perfect image, where to stand in order to get that shot and which moments to capture throughout the day whilst not missing anything important. Not to mention, they are masters at editing the finished images to polish them further. Once you place those amateur guest photos next to the professional images, the discrepancy in quality is unmistakable, even more so once they are printed out and it can really affect the overall quality of your wedding album.

How to incorporate wedding guest photos in your wedding album

So does this mean you shouldn’t include the wedding guest photos in the album at all? There are ways you can include them without risking diluting the quality of the professional photos and the overall aesthetic of your wedding album. Here’s how I’d suggest you do that…

    • Use only the best quality wedding guest photos. Zoom in to check for blurry areas or lack of detail, make sure the lighting and colour is ok and don’t be tempted to include photos that are too “silly” just because they made you laugh; they will look even more amateur! If in doubt ask your album designer to quality check the images and if possible, edit the images to make them as polished as they can be. This is a service that I offer as well as the overall wedding album design.

    • If you really want to include them alongside the narrative of the professional wedding photos then use them sparingly. Professional photos should always take precedent so only include a guest photo if there isn’t a professional image depicting that particular moment or scene.

    • Ideally, include the guest photos in their own double page spread or add in a separate section. You can entitle it something along the lines of “Guest Photos”, “Candids” or “Behind the Scenes”

  • If budget allows and if you have quite a large number of guest photos, then you could always create a smaller album or photo book just for those images. That way you have a beautiful wedding album with the professional photos creating a visual story of your wedding and a second photo book with all those extra moments taken by your loved ones. Both offer a completely different viewpoint!

The last word..

Ultimately, whether you choose to include guest photos in your wedding album is a personal decision. While I would ideally suggest keeping them separate, it’s your heirloom and wedding keepsake, so you should decide what works best for you. If you need assistance with quality control or editing, feel free to get in touch—I’d love to help you create your perfect wedding album, whether it includes guest photos or not!

A guide for newlyweds: How to get over the post-wedding blues

Your wedding day is supposed to be the start of the rest of your life as a married couple. A new beginning. So why do you feel so down and empty after your wedding?

If you look back at the last 12 months – or possibly even longer – it’s likely that planning your wedding took up a LOT of your time and energy. So it’s not a surprise you’re left feeling a bit deflated and without a focus. It’s similar to that depressed feeling you get with post-holiday blues…and what’s the best way to get over those? Book another one usually! Now, I’m not suggesting you start planning another wedding (whether that’s to your new husband or wife or someone else!) But the principle is the same; you need to create a new focus, to fill the gap that is left now you have no table plans to peruse over or invitations to organise.

So what could that be? Here’s a few ideas to help you get over the post-wedding blues…

1. Book a honeymoon

You might have already planned this alongside your wedding, but if not, then now is definitely the time to fill your boots with planning a romantic getaway with your other half. There’s nothing beats the blues more than a trip away and a chance to create more life memories. If you’re not able to take a honeymoon right now, then how about a mini-moon. Even a few days away can help to lift your mood.

2. Compile a Bucket List

Sit down together with a nice chilled bottle of wine (or a takeaway) and plan a Bucket list of experiences you want to share as a couple. That could be as indulgent as travelling to a long haul destination, or as simple as trying a new activity or heading to that exclusive restaurant in town. This will help you to start looking forward and creating excitement about the future rather than dwelling what has already been and gone.

3. Create your wedding album

Receiving your photos from your wedding photographer is the perfect remedy for firing up those happy endorphins. Looking back at all the special moments that have been captured will reignite the joyous feelings you felt at the time and never want to let go of. Which is why striking whilst the iron is hot and creating your wedding album is the ideal project. A wedding album is one of the most beautiful ways to immortalise your wedding memories. Not only is it a tangible experience…there really isn’t a digital alternative to holding an album in your hands and turning the beautiful pages…a well designed wedding album creates a visual story with your photos bringing your most precious moments and memories to life so you can relive them time and time again. It’s the perfect remedy to cheer yourself up when you feel the blues hitting again.

How do I create a wedding album? Should I hire a professional?

There are two options to create your wedding album. Do it yourself or hire a professional wedding album designer. Whilst it might seem a good idea to save money by doing it yourself, hiring a professional is 100% a worthy investment. Here’s why…

We know the wedding album market and will have selected the perfect suppliers – most of which only do business with professional photographers and designers – so you know you are getting a high-quality wedding album that comes with a lifetime guarantee if looked after well. There are plenty of really good DIY photo book companies out there but they just don’t have the added quality and elegance of professional wedding albums.

Laying out your photos into a format that not only looks stunning but tells the story of your day is a lot harder than it might look! Most DIY photo books come with software and templates but that means it can be like fitting a square peg into a round hole. A professional album designer knows just how to use your photos in the best way possible. When I design your album, I start on a blank canvas so we can fit the layout to suit your photos, rather than the other way round, and I carefully choose which photos to showcase so the album focuses on the most important memories and moments.

It saves you a lot of time and stress! It’s very likely that planning your wedding took up a huge chunk of your time and probably also gave you some sleepless nights. So, now it’s all over, it’s a good time to get some self-care time back or pick up on some hobbies you had to drop when the wedding took over your life! You can still feel involved in the process by choosing the final wedding album photos and selecting your absolute favourites. I also involve couples I’m working with by supplying them with a choice of layouts for each album spread and there is plenty of opportunity to change things around once you’ve received the first draft. Alternatively, you can sit back and let someone else do all the work!

Top Tip!

Sifting through several hundred (if not into the thousands!) of your wedding photos to whittle it down to around 120 can be pretty daunting. So have a read of this guide to help you choose your wedding album photos.

The last word

While the post-wedding blues may linger around for a while, just remember that it’s just a temporary phase. Embrace the memories of your wedding day and look forward to the exciting adventures that lie ahead. Your love story is just beginning, and the best is yet to come!

The best wedding albums of 2023

Well, 2023 has now been and gone (seriously?!) and it was an amazing year for wedding albums! I enjoyed creating some really stunning ones. There were quite a few albums for classic British weddings, a couple of elopements – even one in Vegas – and some beautiful destination weddings in Spain and Paris that produced some seriously gorgeous shots. Perfect material for producing a sensational wedding album.

We saw a lot of Natural Textures like Linen, Wood, and Tuscany Leather being used for the covers, giving them a cool earthy yet fancy vibe. And you know what? The classic White/Ivory leather still rocked it; it’s such a timeless style and easy to see why plenty of couples opt for it.
Here’s some of my favourite wedding albums from 2023…

WHITE FAUX LEATHER TRADITIONAL WEDDING ALBUM

One for the traditionalists! This stunning faux leather wedding album for an elegant stately home wedding was finished in Antique White – a very light cream shade with a beautiful natural looking texture. Subtle laser etching text was added onto the album cover which created a simple yet elegant look

The album is a landscape 14×10 inch complete with a presentation box featuring matching Antique White faux leather outer and white linen interior. Inside the album, the wedding photos were styled in my bold and modern Flaunty/Stylish design filling the album pages and white space with photos. This added a contemporary element and pop of bold colour to the otherwise classic neutral wedding album style.

NATURAL WOOD AND BUCKRAM WEDDING ALBUM

Celebrating everything nature! This wedding album was the perfect accompaniment to the couple’s Summer English Garden wedding featuring a textured Natural Buckram material cover in a cream Pure shade. We kept the cover text delicate with a light flowing handwriting style font in a subtle grey ink. To add a further hint of the outdoors, The 12×10 landscape wedding album was finished with the stunning Wood box in Nogal shade which was exquisitely etched with the couple’s initials and a quote.

On the inside, the album layout combines both my Fresh and Stylish styles. They compliment each other by using the white space in the background while showcasing certain photos by filling the page. Due to the stunning colours of nature and natural lighting, using large full page images enhanced the vibrancy of this particular album.

BLUE TUSCANY LEATHER PARISIAN WEDDING ALBUM

Classic with a pop of colour! The Italian Tuscany Leather is breathtakingly beautiful and suited this refined Parisian Wedding with a blue shade which complemented the couple’s wedding colours. Laser Etching text was subtly engraved into the leather to keep with the elegant theme. This wedding album is a 12×12 inch square format and was nestled inside a beautiful wood box that was finished with matching Tuscany leather on the lid and bottom of the box.

The album layout inside was designed using a combination of my classic Fresh and more contemporary Stylish styles…utilising the white space to really showcase those stunning Parisian Backdrops and landmarks (Eiffel Tower of course!) A mix of colour and black and white worked harmoniously together and ensured the couple and their beautiful location was given pride of place.

Love this album? Find out more about my Tuscany wedding albums. | Wedding Album Pricing

CLASSIC PEARL METALLIC WEDDING ALBUM

A classic style wedding album with a hint of modern metallic shimmer. This wedding had a traditional vibe but with an outdoor setting in stunning Spain. The cover material was a beautifully delicate Pearl shade with an embossed shimmer tone. Finished perfectly with silver foiling text for that extra metallic pop. This wedding album was a large 16×12 inch landscape format complete with matching flip-lid style presentation box which added an elegant finish.

Inside, the layout was 70% Fresh layout to keep with the classic feel but with several Stylish spreads to showcase particular photos and add in background images for a modern vibe. There was also a mix of colour and black and white images used throughout.

Love this album? Find out more about my Metallic wedding albums. | Wedding Album Pricing

TIMELESS WHITE LEATHER WEDDING ALBUM

A crisp clean finish with a bold centre! This simple white faux-leather wedding album was in stark contrast to the stunning Las Vegas elopement photos inside and included only a subtle hint of colour with dark red cover text in an elegant modern script font. The 15×10 inch landscape album was complemented by the beautiful wood box in an elegant dark Nogal wood shade and covered on top and bottom by matching White faux leather.

Inside, the wedding album springs to life and the bold stunning natural landscape of the Nevada desert is fully on show with my Flaunty design style…images fill the page with overlapping complementary images and occasionally white space frames the photos. Just a stunning location for an intimate elopement!

Love this album? Find out more about my Faux Leather wedding albums. | Wedding Album Pricing

A LUXURIOUS CINNAMON TUSCANY LEATHER WEDDING ALBUM

Sumptuous and striking! Another beautiful Tuscany Leather wedding album but this time the finish is in a bold Cinnamon shade which is enhanced by the natural wood presentation box that accompanies the album. The 15×10 inch landscape wedding album is embellished with the simplest of cover text…the couple’s initials in gold stamping, the perfect pairing!

The wedding album layout design internally was kept clean and simple in my Fresh Layout which added to the classic feel of the album. The white space borders provided a beautiful frame to the bold colours in the photos and occasional full page images were used to showcase the couple’s key favourite photos.

A SUBTLE NATURAL BUCKRAM AND WOOD WEDDING ALBUM

Refined and Subtle! This was another wedding album that featured the Pure Natural Buckram cover, however this album featured delicate colourless text stamping on the cover which created a simple and elegant finish. The 15×10 inch landscape wedding album was paired with the Nogal Wood box finished with matching Natural Buckram.

The understated theme was continued inside the wedding album with my Fresh style featuring throughout the album spreads which perfectly suited the delicate and subtle tones of this classical English wedding.

Wedding Album Ideas for a Winter Wedding

What do we think of when we envisage a winter wedding? The picturesque beauty of a cold and frosty backdrop or maybe even crisp fresh snow if you are REALLY lucky! Delicate winter hues with twinkling lights or the bold festive colours of a Christmas wedding. Whichever style you choose, a winter wedding is an ideal choice for creating a magical and cosy atmosphere for your special day.

So if you opted for a winter or Christmas themed wedding, how can you reflect that style in your wedding album? Here’s a few ideas…

A wedding album with rich winter tones

If your winter wedding decor and flowers featured lots of rich snug tones and you want to embrace that warm bold feel in your wedding album, then there are several shades and materials that are the perfect fit.

Suede, with it’s soft, velvety texture offers a luxurious and tactile feel, creating an elegant and sophisticated touch to the album. I’d suggest Aubergine Suede for a rich tone or Cream Suede if you want something a little more muted. Both shades evoke warmth which is perfect for that winter themed wedding.

A timeless Linen cover in Plum also provides a vibrant appearance or if you’re looking for a more subtle finish, then how about Genuine Leather in Sage Green.

Photography – Photography by Chantel
Florist – Caroline Clements Flowers
Styling & Props – Rustic Rentals

Aubergine Suede

Cream Suede

Plum Linen

Sage Green Leather

Adding an elegant touch of gold or silver stamping on the front cover – as seen in the Plum Linen and Sage Green Leather examples below – really exemplifies that rich winter feel. All three albums are available in my Wedding Album Collection

Encapsulate the crisp winter weather in your wedding album.

Even though snow is a rare sight in the UK, it’s still a quintessential part of a winter scene. Instead, what we often get are those frosty days, painting a picture of light blues and soft shades of white. If you want to capture that cool, serene vibe in your album, there’s a few different cover styles to opt for….

Embrace nature with a Wood Wedding Album paired with a complementary faux leather spine and rear. I recommend either Dark Wood contrasted with a stark crisp White Faux Leather or the Light Wood with a moody Dark Blue Faux Leather. Finish with beautiful and subtle laser engraving.

Similarly, if you want a cleaner more crisp feel to your wedding album then choose a Faux Leather album in White or Dark Blue. Add a bit more warmth and opt for Black or Blue Velvet album for that plush, opulent feel.

See these albums in my Wedding Album Collection

Blue Micro Leather/ Light Wood

White Micro Leather/Dark Wood

Black Velvet

Blue Velvet

I’d suggest keeping the finishing subtle with either Colourless text stamping or UV Printing in Black/White (Faux Leather Covers), or Laser Engraving (Velvet and Wood Covers).

celebrate your christmas wedding with bold festive tones

If you chose a Christmas themed wedding, then it’s likely your colour scheme featured reds, greens and golds. If so then you can create a wedding album that full on celebrates the yuletide hues or if you prefer, has more of a subtle festive hint.

Velvet is the ideal cover material if you want to capture the essence of an elegant Christmas-themed wedding in a tactile way. It possesses a sumptuous texture and plushness creating an opulent and luxurious appearance. I’d recommend either a beautiful vibrant Red Velvet cover or the slightly more subtle but still colourful, Olive Green Velvet. To add to that bold festive feel, finish with gold text stamping. These are all available with my Velvet Wedding Album

If you want less of a textured finish to your wedding album, but still want to embrace those bold tones, then I’d suggest a Merlot Faux Leather finished with gold text stamping.

For a more neutral and clean crisp finish with a hint of those Christmas colours, you could choose the Faux Leather wedding album with a White cover and gold text stamping. If you want your wedding album to feel more opulent, how about a Gold cover finished with subtle colourless text stamping or white UV print?

Lastly, for something that falls somewhere in between these two, I’d suggest the Wood wedding album in Dark Wood with Gold faux leather across the spine and rear of the album – wintery and natural looking but with a hint of opulence!

Olive Green Velvet

Gold Micro Leather

White Micro Leather

Red Velvet

Merlot Faux Leather

These examples of both the Red and Green Velvet show just how bold and rich these tones are. I’d suggest keeping the cover simple with subtle laser engraving. Alternatively, if you’re opting for a neutral cover then add a pop of festive colour and style with a UV printed logo or text.

Use delicate icy tones for a subtle winter wedding album

Whilst bold bright and metallic shades tend to be associated with Christmas, if your winter themed wedding featured more delicate, cool wintery tones, then you probably don’t really want a brightly coloured wedding album cover. Instead, opt for an elegant light cover such as the following…

Both Velvet and Suede with their tactile feel can invoke that warm cosy wintery feeling. Keep it neutral and sophisticated by opting for the Velvet wedding album with a Cream cover finished with subtle laser engraving. For a slight hint of colour, I’d suggest the Suede wedding album in either Pearl, Marshmallow, Pebble or Baby Pink with a finish of colourless text stamping.

Cream Velvet

Marshmallow Suede

Pearl Suede

Pebble Suede

The Pearl Suede and Cream Velvet albums showcased below are both beautifully complemented with subtle laser engraving, offering an exquisite and delicate wintery finish.

GListening Metallics for an opulent winter wedding album

If you prefer not to embrace bold festive tones entirely but still desire an opulent winter wedding album, consider opting for metallic and shimmering covers in neutral tones. To achieve this look, I’d recommend the following..

The Linen wedding album offers several metallic tones for a perfect blend of natural material with that wintery shimmer. Opt for Silver, Pearlescent Cream or Black.

For something a little richer in tone and more bold in material, the Metallic wedding album in Venetian Blue Shimmer cover adds more of a textured glistening finish.

Metallic Silver Linen

Pearlescent Cream Linen

Metallic Black Linen

Venetian Blue Shimmer

Finish your metallic album with some gold or silver stamping or keep it simple with white or black UV print.

Simply a stunner of a wedding album for a beautiful Parisian wedding! Ashley & Steve’s wedding was a wonderfully regal affair with a small number of family and friends joining them in the heart of Paris. The ceremony took place in the Shangri La hotel followed by dinner in La Tour D’Argent.

They chose a Tuscany leather album in the chic Marine blue from my Dreambooks Album range which perfectly fit their wedding theme as the bride wore a stunning deep blue dress. The Tuscany leather has a wonderful natural texture which results in an opulent and classic looking wedding album…perfect for their majestic wedding style. A Nogal Wood Box topped with a matching Tuscany Leather lid complemented the album. An elegant finish was achieved by engraving their names on the cover.

The wedding album design layout was in a mix of my Fresh and Stylish styles. The Fresh style uses white space and borders to keep things simple and elegant and we used the Stylish style on some spreads to really show off certain photos, especially those with views of the magnificent Parisian landscape and the Eiffel tower. Who wouldn’t want to show that off if it featured in the background of their wedding photos?!

THE WEDDING ALBUM INTRO

The first page of the wedding album acts as an introduction; to set the stage for the wedding story. For Ashley & Steve’s album, I selected two images that work together and convey the essence of their special day. Naturally, given it’s a Parisian wedding, there just had to be a photo featuring the iconic Eiffel Tower. It was a majestic backdrop for a portrait photo of the newlyweds and the black and white version lends an air of elegance to the spread. In perfect contrast to this, I added an image of their stationary featuring their Itinerary. The deep blue and gold depicts their wedding colour scheme and gives an insight into their celebrations.

WEDDING ALBUM SPREAD - A MOMENT IN SEQUENCE

This wedding album spread is dedicated to the bride and her daughter in a special quiet few moments once they’re prepped and ready. There were several sequential images so we chose four for balance which fit like a glove in a stunning strip layout across the open spread. As well as framing the muted colors of the images, the white space border also enhanced the spectacular royal blue dress worn by Ashley.

WEDDING ALBUM SPREAD - THE CEREMONY

It can be a challenge when dealing with wedding ceremony photos…. There are usually so many moments captured, it’s about striking the correct balance between them to convey the ambience of the ceremony. In this particular spread, I decided to keep it concise and feature just four images primarily focusing on the bride and groom. There was a striking portrait of Ashley which definitely need showcasing and I bookended it with another beautiful photo of both Ashley & Steve on the opposite page. A smaller image of their daughter perched on the shoulders of a guest alongside another shot of the couple from a different angle was added for balance and created the feel of an intimate moment shared between the family.

WEDDING ALBUM SPREAD - THE EIFFEL TOWER

What a backdrop for your newlywed portrait photos! There was an array of stunning images featuring the iconic Eiffel Tower behind A&S and I handpicked two of them for this wedding album spread. With the tower dominating the image, I made sure each photo filled the page, as A&S were dwarfed by it – any smaller and you would barely be able to see them. With a third image interspersed between the first two, I introduced a close up of the couple in timeless black and white, with the beautiful Parisian architecture in the background for contrast. There is no doubt about where their wedding took place!

WEDDING ALBUM SPREAD - BLACK AND WHITE FOCUS

There’s something undeniably stunning about a black and white wedding album spread, don’t you think? Black and white photographs have a unique way of highlighting intricate details, and in this case, the two shots of A&S against the backdrop of Parisian architecture contained a beautiful balance between the couple and their surroundings. However, when you have just two images spanning an entire album spread, placing them to the edges of both pages can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. To strike a balance, I framed one of the photos with a white border. This simple touch provided just the right amount of separation between the images, so they both shine through individually whilst still working well together.

WEDDING ALBUM SPREAD - WEDDING IN PARIS

When your wedding takes place in the romantic heart of Paris, you absolutely have to capture the city’s charm into your wedding album. This particular spread is a testament to that sentiment, featuring a series of portrait photos capturing A&S amongst the Parisian ambience, complete with rain, while Steve found a moment of quiet contemplation. All four images were in portrait orientation, which naturally lent itself to a strip layout. The photo taken on the banks of the Seine with the river flowing behind was a perfect feature image as it’s light background blended seamlessly into the white space of the page and allowed the foreground images to stand out on their own.

THE FINAL WEDDING ALBUM SPREAD - DINNER

Now is the time to relax and celebrate with family and friends! A&S’s wedding was a fairly intimate affair with a select few loved ones joining them at the amazing La Tour D’Argent restaurant. I wanted this album spread to capture the ambience of their evening celebration so I included several posed portraits of the newlyweds looking relaxed and happy interspersed with images that set the scene of the evening. The design, I kept to a clean and simple collage style layout with emphasis on one pivotal background image featuring the beautifully adorned table. This sets the scene and immerses you in the room whilst not distracting from the several foreground photos.

Autumn….. It’s such a stunning time of year with the leaves on the trees turning into amazingly bold hues of red, crimson, gold and amber. The natural beauty of the season can provide a breathtakingly beautiful backdrop and theme for your wedding. So if you’ve opted for an Autumn Wedding, just how can you incorporate that into your wedding album and ensure it reflects the beauty and style of your big day?
With so many wedding album cover materials and colours available, whether you chose vibrant autumnal shades, or a rustic style theme, there’s a perfect accompaniment to your autumn wedding theme. Here’s a few ideas…..

Natural Wood Shades for a rustic feel Autumn wedding album

If you’ve opted for a rustic feel autumn wedding, then the unique and natural Wood Cover is an excellent choice. The front cover features a handmade wood block which is paired with a faux (micro) leather spine and rear. I recommend the following:

Pine Wood or the slightly darker Nogal Wood both exude Autumn vibes. Team them with Beige or Metallic Gold Micro Leather for a more subtle finish. Or go for bigger and bolder shades such as Bordeaux Red or Mustard Yellow Micro Leather for a more vibrant autumnal feel.

Beige Micro Leather

Gold Micro Leather

Bordeaux Micro Leather

Mustard Micro Leather

I’d recommend finishing the look with some subtle and extremely elegant laser engraving on the cover (particularly if you opt for a bold micro leather shade) and a matching wood box.

Wood Wedding Albums are from the Dreambooks album range.

Tuscany Leather for a classic and elegant wedding album

If your autumn wedding features a natural and elegant style with lots of amber, gold and orange tones then the sensational Italian Tuscany Leather wedding album is a ideal and luxurious complement. It’s strong and robust with a beautiful natural texture. I recommend the following:

Cinnamon Tuscany Leather which has strong amber undertones; Coffee Tuscany Leather which is a rich deep brown tone or Coal Tuscany Leather for a slightly more subtle greyer tint

Cinnamon Tuscany Leather

Adding gold stamping to the Tuscany Leather cover creates a sumptuous finish and perfectly enhances those autumn vibes throughout the whole album. Complete the album with a Wood Box either standalone or with a matching Tuscany leather top and bottom.

Tuscany Leather wedding albums are from the Dreambooks Album Range.

Neutral Buckram for a subtle natural autumnal wedding album

You don’t have to go full on vibrant and bold when matching your wedding album to your autumn wedding style. Sometimes just a subtle hint can be just as effective, especially if your overall theme was fairly neutral. Buckram is a textured woven material with some light neutral shades that match most themes. I recommend the following:

Beige Buckram which has a slightly golden tone; Ivory Buckram which is a little lighter and more neutral or the more textured Pure Natural Buckram.

Autumn wedding chair flowers

Pure Natural Buckram

Beige Buckram

Ivory Buckram

If you really want to keep to the neutral and subtle theme, finish your wedding album cover with colourless or gold stamping. Or to add a hint of bold autumnal shades, you can add text or even a logo/autumn illustration in UV print in a shade to match your wedding theme. Match with a clamshell box with Oak rim and matching buckram outer.

Buckram wedding albums are from the Dreambooks Album Range.

Bold and Soft Velvet for a unique vibrant wedding album

If you really want to reflect those bold autumn hues with a unique twist, then how about a Velvet wedding album? The stunningly soft material is amazing to touch and creates a very textured and deluxe finish. I recommend the following:

Beige Velvet, a fairly deep but neutral shade; Cream Velvet if you want bright but subtle; Clay Earth which has beautiful red undertones; Copper Earth for a rich natural brown or Terracotta which has a more golden undertone.

Velvet_for_Autumn_weddings

Beige Velvet

As these covers are mostly rich and vibrant, I suggest letting the material shine by pairing them with subtle laser engraving and a clamshell box with Oak rim and matching velvet outer.

Velvet wedding albums are from the Dreambooks Album Range.

Metallic Shimmer material for a modern Autumn wedding album.

If you want a more modern and sleek look to your autumn wedding album, then the Metallic Shimmer material is a good option. It’s a synthetic and robust material with an embossed textured pattern that creates a metallic shimmer effect in the light. I recommend the following:

Auburn Shimmer, a deep bold red/claret tone, Rose Gold Shimmer for a slightly more subtle pink shade or White/Pearl Shimmer for a more neutral based wedding album.

Rose Gold Shimmer

Pearl/White Shimmer

Auburn Shimmer

All three cover options are perfectly paired with gold stamping text to add that autumnal vibrancy, or for a more neutral touch, add white UV printing to the Auburn/Rose Gold covers. Finish with a matching presentation box.

Metallic Shimmer albums are from the Bellissimo Album range.

The last word

Hopefully that’s given you some inspiration and ideas to help co-ordinate your wedding album with your autumn themed wedding. If you would like any more help or want to discuss your wedding album needs further, feel free to Get in Touch. I’d love to help create your perfect autumn wedding album!

Wedding Album for a traditional stately home wedding

Lucy and Tim’s summer wedding all the way back in 2012 (yes, it’s never too late to create your wedding album!) was the perfect example of a timeless classic English celebration. They combined a traditional church ceremony with a stunning stately home reception at Prior Park College in Bath.

Their chosen album from the Dreambooks range had a natural and elegant feel featuring the exquisite Pearl Grey Buckram cover and accompanied by the stunning Nogal Wood box. What sets this album apart and what I really love is that instead of simply printing their names on the cover, L&T opted for something more meaningful. They chose the words “You and Me,” a reference to their first dance song, ‘You and Me Song’ by The Wannadies. Their names and wedding date were beautifully engraved on the box cover, making it a cherished keepsake of their special day.

The wedding album layout was in my Fresh style….beautifully simple and elegant which was a perfect fit for their traditional English wedding style.

THE WEDDING ALBUM COVER TEXT

Although L&T’s wedding had a traditional and quintessential vibe, their album cover took a different approach! Taking inspiration from their wedding stationary, the cover showcased big, bold but stylish lettering in a shade of blue that contrasted well against a delicate Pearl Grey background, but wasn’t too overbearing. They opted for the more traditional Names & Date format on the album box which was laser engraved, but to maintain the harmony between cover and box, we used the same font in a similarly bold size.

WEDDING ALBUM DESIGN - BRIDAL PREPARATION

In this spread, it’s all about the bride and her squad getting ready in the morning. Although the Fresh style is classic and simple, images can still fill most of the page and in this case, using the white space as a border to frame the photos. Different sizes focus the attention on key photos! What I love most about this spread is how the black and white photos really make those coloured images pop and put all eyes on the bride’s portrait!

WEDDING ALBUM DESIGN - THE BRIDE'S ENTRANCE

The bride’s entrance and walk down the aisle are the star of the show, at any wedding. So, for this album spread, we decided to keep it simple and let those magical moments shine through. Pure use of black and white images creates a beautifully elegant classic look and works particularly well for church weddings.

WEDDING ALBUM DESIGN - THE CEREMONY

This symmetrical landscape layout of the ceremony fills the page beautifully and captures not just the bride and groom but their important guests too. The layout ensures a particular focus on the two outer photos – one featuring a tender glance between the happy couple, and the other showcases the bridesmaids with the blue of their dresses standing out amongst the muted tones on the album spread.

WEDDING ALBUM DESIGN - CONFETTI TIME!

This album spread is dedicated entirely to the confetti throwing! I’ve kept it simple, featuring just four exquisite candid photos that perfectly capture the moment. On the left, there’s a striking black and white image which emphasises the emotion on the bride’s face. Similarly, on the right, I placed the only color image on the spread, which stands out beautifully against the other black and white photos. A perfect contrast to capture a single few moments.

WEDDING ALBUM DESIGN - A STROLL AROUND THE GROUNDS

This wedding album spread showcases three similar photos of L&T strolling around the breathtaking grounds of Prior Park College. Each photo captures different angles and backdrops so it’s almost as if you’re taking a stroll alongside L&T, immersing yourself in the beauty of the surroundings. The simple and flowing layout, from left to right, creates a seamless connection between the images while effectively utilising the space. Amidst the stunning stately mansion and lush greenery, these images contain lots of detail and bold shades. The use of a clean white border frames them perfectly, while the black and white photo provides a break from the colours.

WEDDING ALBUM DESIGN - GROUP SHOTS

Time for some group photos! To keep things simple, especially with larger groups there’s just one photo on each page her on this album spread. The larger photo fills the entire page; as it’s quite imposing with the grand columns and stairs of the mansion, opting for black and white ensures no distractions.. The left-hand page, features the bridal party. Here, we wanted to showcase the bridesmaids’ outfits and the wedding colours, so full color not only bring out those vibrant elements but contrasts well with the larger group photo on the right.

WEDDING ALBUM SPREAD - FIRST DANCE

L&T were keen to include their first dance lyrics within their album so this whole spread was dedicated to their first dance. Again, mostly black and white photos were used for a classic and elegant look. They can also work well for evening photos when the lighting might not be ideal. We used a mix of close up portrait images alongside full length photos of L&T with the lyrics nestled in between.

Wedding album ideas for a festival themed wedding

Festival themed weddings…a trend that’s been rocking the UK summer wedding scene in recent years. They’re a perfect blend of bohemian style, rustic outdoor elements and bold, vibrant colours. Oh, and a lot of fun! So, if you’ve gone the extra mile to plan all those fabulous festival-inspired details for your big day, it’s safe to say you’re not that interested in a generic stereotypical wedding album. The good news is, you don’t have to have one! By that I mean you definitely have to have a wedding album, but you can create one that reflects the style and essence of your fantastic festival wedding.

With so many options out there for wedding albums, here’s some inspiring ideas to match your album to your festival style wedding…

Natural wedding album materials to reflect a outdoor Festival Wedding setting

When it comes to festival-themed weddings, the venue plays a major role. Sprawling fields, charming tipis, and cozy hay bales – it’s all about embracing the beauty of natural elements.

So, for your wedding album, why not opt for something that exudes a natural look and feel? Lately, materials like Hessian, Linen, and Buckram have been all the rage for album covers, not just for festival weddings. These textures add a touch of organic charm and fit perfectly with your festival-inspired celebration. It’s all about embracing the natural vibes!

Natural Buckram and Hessian are comparable in style and have a beautiful textured woven effect with organic tones. Team it with some stunning gold stamping on the cover or contrast with some modern bold colour UV printing. Buckram and Linen are fairly similar just with less texture and a wider range of colours.

I’d suggest the following shades:

Pure Natural Buckram for a light creamy tone or Brown Natural Buckram for a more organic hue. Both from the Dreambooks album range.
Natural Hessian for an earthy feel or opt for Auburn Hessian which has a more brighter pinky tone whilst still retaining a natural style. Both from the Bellissimo album range.

Pure Natural Buckram

Brown Natural Buckram

Auburn Hessian

Natural Hessian

Ivory Linen

Natural Linen

Truffle Linen

Team your natural wedding album with some stunning gold stamping on the cover or contrast with some modern bold colour UV printing. Perfect if you just want a hint of that bright festival feel.

A mix of Natural and Neutral with a hint of contemporary

With many festival themed weddings set in fields and woodland, there’s one natural material that tends to feature heavily and that’s of course…Wood. The Dreambooks album range offers a breathtakingly beautiful and elegant wedding album. It features a wooden front in four organic shades paired with a faux micro leather spine and rear. If you’re looking for a natural feel with a hint of contemporary then there are a few metallic or neutral shades that work perfectly together…

Nogal Wood or Pine Wood paired with the following micro leather colours… Rose Gold or Gold for a modern metallic twist; White or Beige for a neutral look.

Gold Micro Leather

Rose Gold Micro Leather

Beige Micro Leather

White Micro Leather

Even the more neutral shades of Rose Gold and White micro leather stand out against the bold natural tone of the Nogal Wood…particularly when paired with the matching wood box.

A wedding album that exudes both natural beauty and bold festival tones

A festival themed wedding is all about bright colours, whether you are using them in your wedding flowers, table decor, or if you go all out and splash them everywhere! If you want a decent mix of nature and vibrancy in your wedding album, then the Dreambooks Wood album also combines well with more vivid micro leather shades. I’d suggest the following combinations to really capture those bright festival colours…

Nogal Wood or Pine Wood paired with the following micro leather colours… Green, Baby Blue, Bordeaux Red or Mustard Yellow

Bordeaux Micro Leather

Green Micro Leather

Pine Wood

Nogal Wood

Baby Blue Micro Leather

Mustard Micro Leather

Keep it simple and pair your album with subtle laser engraving or match your text to the bold shade you’ve chosen for your spine with UV printing.

Vibrant Festival Hues Infused with an Organic touch

IIf you want to incorporate that festival style colour bomb into your wedding album, but don’t want to go full on vibrant, then Buckram or Linen in a bright pastel tone is the perfect choice. Or, if you do fancy going big and bright, then the above Micro Leather colours can be used across the whole album cover. Complement this with the wood box to counterbalance the rich bold hues in the leather.

I’d suggest the following pastel tones…

Linen in either Sunshine Yellow, Baby Pink, Baby Blue, or Lavender from the Bellissimo album range

Buckram in either Lemon, Lavender, Meadow, Baby Blue or Raspberry Cream from the Dreambooks album range

Baby Blue Buckram

Meadow Buckram

Lemon Buckram

Lavender Buckram

Raspberry Cream Buckram

Sunshine Yellow Linen

Lavender Linen

Baby Pink Linen

Baby Blue Linen
