The best Wedding Albums of 2021

So, yet another year is over…where the heck did 2021 go?! I have to say it’s been quite a challenging year and I’ve felt the knock on effects of the lack of weddings in 2020 and the early part of 2021. But, thankfully, I’ve still had the pleasure of working on some beautiful and interesting wedding albums – from lockdown elopements in rural Scotland, a lockdown Christmas wedding in Ireland to producing several wedding albums that took places in previous years…it seems being stuck at home prompted plenty of couples to finally get organised and get their heirloom wedding album created! The variety of weddings ensured a great range of different wedding album styles and colours so I thought I’d share with you my favourite ones from the last 12 months….a fantastic source of inspiration if you’re thinking about producing your own wedding album.

Album 1 - Paul & Jan's traditional wedding album

Natural Buckram Wedding Album
P&J’s wedding was a traditional English church ceremony and country barn reception. They were looking to complement that style in their wedding album so opted for the 15×10 inch Dreambooks Album with a Natural Buckram cover in Pure shade. The material has a beautiful textured appearance and the Pure Shade is a light cream which is perfect for that traditional wedding album feel. The look was finished off with a Sage Green ribbon (to match elements of the wedding colour scheme) and traditional script writing in UV ink on the cover. The Wood presentation box in Light wood shade with matching Natural Buckram outer was the ideal partner to their wedding album!

Just as important was the design style of the internal layouts – P&J just loved the idea of a key feature image on each spread whilst retaining a more traditional feel to the images. My Stylish design style was the perfect fit with faded background full page photos and smaller collage photos surrounded by some white space framing.  See more of Paul & Jan’s wedding album here

Album 2 - Meera & Nikhil's wood wedding album

M&J’s wedding album was a great example of how you can mix both natural and contemporary styles. Their Asian wedding took place in Portugal over several events so both the internal layout and external features of the album needed to portray the stunning landscape and style of their wedding. After a fair amount of deliberation, M&J decided to go for the 15×10 inch Dreambooks Album with a Wood cover in Nogal wood shade. The beauty of this album is that it can be matched with several different materials and colours on the spine/rear of the album to truly personalise. The choice of Bordeaux Red faux leather was stunning and added a modern vibrancy to their album cover. The Cover was finished off with their wedding logo laser engraved into the wood and encased in a Wood Box that matched their Nogal Wood cover.

The wedding was bright and vivacious so my full on Flaunty style was the ideal match to truly show off the detail and colours across the wedding events. Images fill the pages with complementary smaller photos which certainly brings the wedding to life!

Album 3 - Arlene & Darren's velvet wedding album

Cream Velvet Dreambooks Wedding Album
A&D’s wedding was one of my lockdown wedding albums from last year. The guests may have been restricted but the celebrations and effort certainly weren’t! It was a traditional Irish church and castle wedding with impressive buildings and backdrops and held on New Year’s Eve so there was a real winter/Christmas feel to the day. This was something that A&D wanted to reproduce in the overall look and feel to the album and they were quite keen to have something that was crisp and clean. So they chose the 16×12 inch Dreambooks Album with a Velvet cover in Cream shade…a fitting wintery material! Laser Etching text was a perfectly subtle finish to the cover and the Wood Box in Light wood shade an ideal match to perfect that clean look throughout.

As the album was a big and bold size, A&D were keen to utilise the space and feature their beautiful wedding photos in full so I designed the spreads in a mixture of Flaunty and Stylish style with at least one full size image on each spread. Within the wedding ceremony and reception, they also had several readings and song lyrics which meant a lot to them both as a couple so we included them in the album interspersed amongst the images and some white space…a real bonus to a bespoke album is being able to include both photos and text! Album 4 - Clare & Matthew's rustic wedding album

C&M’s wedding album has to be one of my favourites to work on ever! Not only did they have a lockdown elopement, but it was set in the stunning landscape of the Isle of Skye…in March nonetheless so it ensured not only some dramatic scenery and backdrops but incremental weather all of which ensured some amazing photos and captured moments. Their choice of album – a 12×12 inch Dreambooks Album with Velvet cover in Copper Earth tone – was just beautiful. The Velvet material and shade created a beautifully textured natural feel to the cover which was a perfect match to the earthy location and Scottish weather! The album cover was finished off with bespoke Laser Etching text featuring the outline of the island and all encased in a matching clamshell box.

As I already mentioned above, the wedding photos featured such dramatic backgrounds and scenery, they really didn’t need any embellishing and C&M were keen to keep a clean and simple look to their layout. So I designed in my classic Fresh style, with the use of white space to frame the images and the occasional single photo filling a double page spread or single page. Album 5 - Devinder & Vinod's red wedding album

D&V’s asian wedding album was a beautiful mix of elegance and vibrant colour. The main focus of the album was of the pre-ceremony rituals, family and the ceremony itself so there was a lot going on, particularly with the beautifully embellished outfits and stunning traditional ceremony venue! D&V decided upon the Dreambooks 14×14 inch album with the stunningly brightly hued Red Velvet cover which was a perfect match for the Bride’s outfit. It was finished off with a Navy Ribbon on the matching Clamshell box (in a nod to the Groom’s outfit) and featured a laser etched logo and initials on the cover.

It was full on Flaunty for this album design layout with lots of large images filling the pages. I just love featuring single photos across a double page spread but when space is at a premium, it’s not always possible, but D&V were keen to include several of these throughout their album. They’re a great feature to break up the album and really showcase your favourite moments and photos. More of Devinder & Vinod’s wedding album can be found here

Album 6 - Elsbeth & Christopher's ivory wedding album

E&S’s wedding was a pretty English summertime church wedding and outdoor marquee reception so there was a bright and warm feeling to their wedding photos. They wanted a clean and traditional feel to their wedding album, so chose the 10×10 inch Dreambooks Album in Ivory Buckram. The Buckram cover is very similar to a Linen material so it feels quite natural and the Ivory shade is ideal for that traditional look. The look was completed with a clamshell box in matching material and a Navy linen ribbon which contrasted well with the Ivory and matched the groom’s outfit!
To carry on the traditional feel in the internal of the album, E&S went for a clean, Fresh design look for their wedding photo layouts as there were no overlapping background images and lots of white space framing their photos.

Album 7 - Glen & Sian's Navy Linen wedding album

G&S’s wedding album was commissioned by the groom’s mother who took the wedding photos! She wanted something smart and elegant to reflect the couple’s traditional wedding. She opted for the 12×12 inch Bellissimo Album with a chic and modern Linen cover in the stunning Navy which was a perfect complement to the groom’s wedding colours and overall theme. It was topped off with UV print text in White for a sumptuous yet tidy finish and completed with matching presentation box in the same material.
The layout design for the wedding photos was in my Stylish style, as the groom’s mother wanted to showcase particular photos and fill the page whilst also retaining some cleaner image layouts and utilising the white space.
