Laura & Thomas' Wedding Album

Laura & Thomas were keen to match the style and layout of their album to their seaside wedding theme. The photos were very lighthearted and fun so they chose my Stylish design style utilising background images and the full page to it’s potential. To complement their colour scheme they chose a baby blue soft material cover with silver text etching

Here’s some of my favourite album spreads:

Laura & Thomas loved this photo so it was only fitting to use it on the first spread as a great introduction to their wedding album. It perfectly represents the fun aspect of their wedding! As their theme was the seaside, they wanted to include a seashell logo and to blend in with the image and their theme, the light blue colour was ideal and less harsh than black or a darker shade..

This collection of photos is a great example of how the images work together to tell the story of the day – a collection of moments showing just went on in the lead up to the ceremony of the bride and her party getting ready and having a bit of fun to calm the nerves. The wedding details are also important and the dress/shoes shots were ideal as background images.

Aside from the groom of course, the bride is THE most important person at the wedding, and her arrival at the ceremony is a pivotal moment – which is why I chose to make her the central focus in this spread. The additional images of the Father of the bride, bridesmaids and wedding car help to set the scene.

How proud does Dad look walking his daughter down the aisle! Another key moment that needed to be displayed in all it’s glory and it looks great blown up to full page size.

I’ve said it before but group shots can be quite tricky to layout in an album, particularly when you’re short of space and need to fit several photos on a spread. The key, I find is not too many images on a page!

Every album needs a few shots of the newlyweds celebrating their first married moments together away from their guests and likewise, I like to showcase these photos by not including too many on a spread. This image of Laura & Thomas was beautifully framed in the doorway which worked really well blown up to full page and as there was a lot of detail in both the images, I included some white space around the smaller image.

Time for the reception! A great introduction to this section of the wedding is the entrance of the new Mr and Mrs coupled with some detail and guest shots. I could have created all 6 images on the right hand page the same size, but I find sometimes images get “lost” so  picking two “feature” shots to focus on, breaks it up a little.

The evening party looks like so much fun! With several photos to include (which I felt worked together to help showcase that party and fun atmosphere), it worked to just have one portrait shot at full page so the other photos could still shine.

A great way to end the wedding story…..The gazing out to sea shot just had to be showcased in full and the last photo of the album. It’s the end of the day but the start of a whole new married life together. The sunset photos are quite colour heavy so having the black and white details shots alongside created a bit of contrast.
