A modern alternative to a traditional wedding album

Modern wedding albums…they’re very different to how they were back in the day! They’ve evolved to look and feel much sleeker and more contemporary than they did back in the twentieth century and whilst I absolutely recommend everyone prints out their wedding photos in some form, (please don’t leave them online or on a hard-drive!) not all couples want a large, bulky album that might end up neglected and gathering dust in the back of a cupboard. So, are there any alternatives to wedding albums besides just printing out your photos, or framing your favourites?

The answer to that is YES! I’ve recently added Wedding Storybooks to my repertoire. They’re a magazine style photo book featuring a complementary mix of your wedding photos and text. A perfect keepsake of all the memories from your wedding that you can leave out on your coffee table (or wherever you prefer!)

What are Wedding Storybooks?

Your wedding photos are such a precious visual reminder of your wedding. They encapsulate all those moments you might otherwise forget over time. But there’s one thing photos don’t quite capture on their own – words, sounds and all the tiny details that feed into the big day! The song you walk down the aisle to, vows and readings and the best man’s speech are all things that, if they’re not written down or featured on a video, you might forget over time (I know I have!) That’s where the Wedding Storybook comes into it’s own. It’s a mix of both text and images in a magazine style format where you can record, in one book, all those wedding details you want to remember.

Key components of a wedding storybook are –

  • A Coffee table style photo book which is  press printed
  • A Hardback fully designed cover
  • Features headers and text details of your wedding alongside photos
  • Magazine style format
  • Traditionally bound at the spine (with lay-flat options)

What are the differences between a Wedding Storybook and a Wedding Album?

Content aside, Wedding Storybooks tend to be more sleek and stylish than their heavyweight cousins. Think more glossy coffee table book than big leather bound album with more flexible pages. Which makes it easier to get it out and flick through it. The hardback photo image wrap cover offers a more contemporary look and the opportunity to include whatever text or image you like. They mostly come in a portrait format similar to a magazine whereas wedding albums are more likely to be a square or landscape format. There’s an optional box too with a fully designable rim to match your storybook cover.

What can I include in a Wedding Storybook?

The short answer to that is…pretty much anything you like! There’s no right or wrong and entirely depends on your wedding and how you want to remember it. Words, speeches and readings from your ceremony and reception are obvious ones as are lyrics to your first dance song. But there’s so much more you can include too. Your wedding breakfast menu, for instance, or the flavours of your wedding cake. You can add details of the dress designer, jewellery you wore and descriptions of what happened at various points of the day. You can even set the scene by including a paragraph or two about the proposal, finishing off with an article describing your honeymoon. The list can be endless!
