This wedding album was quite a project but one I thoroughly enjoyed working on. The brief from the client was quite particular and we worked closely together to bring his vision to life. There were three sets of images included in the album: two wedding events and the honeymoon photos. The design style was kept very clean and uniform incorporating white space and a nice flow to the images and the story.
The album cover was real Italian leather in the Coffee shade which really complimented the design and the client’s images to produce a stunningly elegant and high-class feel to the album. There were also 6 smaller replicas all with matching presentation boxes!
Each section was separated by a ‘header’ page which included date, venue and location information on the left hand side and the images from that section beginning on the right hand side. This was a simple but elegant way to break up the flow album into the relevant events rather than just the images continuing all the way through.
Here’s some of my favourite album spreads:
This is a great example of where less is more! Just four images in the spread help to capture one of the key moments in the ceremony without having too much going on within the spread. The first kiss image the key photo in the spread and I deliberately kept the block of three images on the left hand page smaller to further make a real feature of this photo.
Despite being a busy time of the ceremony with lots of guests around, I isolated these four images which focused on just the bride and groom and the first moments in the marriage. The simple layout and uniform height of the photos add extra focus to their joyful and happy expressions.
This series of six images worked perfectly on their own spread. I laid them across the spread at equal height and space to really bring the action and sequential flow of the images to life.
The images in this spread almost fell into place naturally, working perfectly in a symmetrical format which not only kept to the uniform layout brief, but also allowing the story to flow in it’s natural sequence.
This was the final spread in the album from the couple’s honeymoon. There were more images here than in most spreads but they were all connected and needed to be kept together. They flowed together well and I just love how the large amount of white space contrasts against the beautiful colours of the sea and sand.
Lovely words from the client......
‘Working with Gill has been an absolute pleasure – she is extremely reliable, diligent and skilled in what she does. She was able to perfectly realise exactly what we were trying to do with our photos, and found a number of creative solutions that were absolutely in line with our own vision, but were backed by Gill’s experience and expertise. Her advice throughout was spot-on, and nothing was too much trouble in order to achieve the best possible final result. Highly recommend this very safe pair of hands
