Janis & Paul
This month’s featured wedding album features a traditional English style wedding ceremony and reception. Janis & Paul wanted something elegant and timeless to complement their wedding so the Buckram Album in a 15×10 inch landscape format fitted the bill perfectly! The stunning Natural Buckram cover in the Pure shade was finished off with a wood box with matching Natural Buckram outer and UV printing on the cover. Janis & Paul chose the Stylish wedding album design style so they could utilise the space in the album and showcase key images.

This album featured my Stylish wedding album design style which I kept relatively simple and works really well with the landscape format – usually a key feature image with smaller supporting images and some white space.
Here’s some of my favourite spreads from the albums:
The Bride Prep spread has to be one of my favourites to design! There’s usually some beautiful detail shots of the wedding dress and accessories which are a perfect mix alongside those make up and getting ready shots to create a snapshot of what the bride was up to in the hours before the ceremony. Those little details and moments you want to look back on and remember fondly!
Everyone is different when it comes to what they want included in a wedding album. For some couples, they want to include lots of family and friends and details of their wedding, whereas others want to make sure they are the focus of attention! However, I do always try to include some wedding album spreads that are dedicated to the new Mr & Mrs; after all it is their wedding day. This spread is a perfect example of that – the moment the newlyweds leave the church as husband and wife. There were several photos taken in a similar spot so I mixed up the close up shots with those taken further away so it didn’t look too samey.
Family and friends were an important inclusion for Janis & Paul in their wedding album. So whilst the previous album spread was all focused on them, they also wanted to acknowledge and recall the moments their guests enjoyed. Here it’s all about the moments after leaving the church ceremony. When there’s quite a lot of images to include, I try to utilise different sizes to break up the number of photos so it doesn’t become overwhelming with the use of a big background image of Janis & Paul.
What a lovely location for a photoshoot! The benefit of the landscape album is that photos can flow well from left to right with a showstopper image filling the page…keeping it simple but with a wow factor.
There’s always a couple of feature photos that need their own space to shine! Particularly the image featuring the large tree. It worked well both in colour and black & white but Janis & Paul eventually chose the latter which worked as a perfect contrast to the photo on the right hand side.
Celebrating the Bridal Party! There were a few beautiful and fun shots of Janis and her bridesmaids so with 31 double page spreads to play with, they fully deserved their own spread!
Similar to the bridal prep spread, a wedding reception detail spread is a great addition to creating a visual story of your wedding day…it sets the scene and jogs the memory to all those little details you spent hours deciding on and organising. Janis & Paul had chosen a good mix of images which I designed in a montage with a photo of the venue and the happy couple entering the room as focus images.
