Arlene & Darren's Wedding Album

As it’s December, what better album to feature this month than a Christmas wedding album! Arlene & Darren married on New Year’s Day 2021 with a stunning Christmas/Winter themed wedding. Their album was a large 16×12 inch landscape Dreambooks Album with a whopping 34 double page spreads as they wanted to include a lot of their beautiful wedding photos. Keeping with the traditional winter wedding theme, A&D opted for a beautiful Cream Velvet cover finished with Laser Engraving and encased in a light wood box. They also included two 10×8 inch replica albums for their families.

Here’s some of my favourite spreads from the album:

The intro wedding album spread! It’s important to set the scene and the story at the beginning of the album and as A&D had opted for a full on Flaunty style, I used four photos to fill the double page…a feature photo of the newlyweds along with three images that really showcased their style and wedding theme….the rings, flowers and a Christmas tree with a personal poster message. A&D also had a monogram wedding logo of their initials which we featured on this spread.

This spread is all about the bride! A combination of the bride getting her make up and hair done, dress on and some detail shots create a nice mix to really set the scene and portray the mood of the bride in the lead up to her big moment!

The benefit of working with a larger amount of wedding album spreads is that I can really focus on particular moments across a whole spread. This is one of those examples….just the bride and her Dad enjoying a poignant moment or two before heading off to the church where he’ll give her away to her new husband! You can really feel the emotion across these photos.

Of course the Bride walking down the aisle with the groom looking on just HAD to be the showcase photo in this wedding album spread. The landscape album lends itself well to featuring a large background photo or two with a couple of smaller foreground photos whilst still ensuring key focus remains on the main image.

The key moments from the ceremony where A&D became husband and wife exchanging rings and that first kiss!! Such a beautiful natural image just had to take centre stage and whilst photos of guests watching can add context to the ceremony spreads, in this case I wanted to solely focus on the bride and groom!

The church backdrop was stunning especially with those Christmas flowers draped around the door! A mix of black & White and colour images worked well here to break up the spread.

Just look at that backdrop for these photos! The landscape format is great for these simple but effective layouts….just a single full page image on one side with 3 photos on the other to balance it out. With these landscape style shots, you really don’t want too much going on to take away from these beautiful images of the happy couple!

I just love this photo of the bride and bridesmaids in full flight dancing in the corridor! It was the perfect image to take centre stage surrounded by two more formal, but equally stylish group shots of the bridal and groom’s parties.

A&D wanted to include some wording in several sections of their wedding album…given the large amount of double page spreads they had, it was easy to include these alongside a couple of supporting photos. This is a great example of the perfect balance between the speech wording and supporting photos.

These three window/balcony photos of the newlyweds work perfectly together to form a cohesion and flow across the spread.

The final spread and what a way to finish…a kiss by the fountain and fireworks! A beautifully simple layout alongside a verse from one of the songs from the day completes the story perfectly.
